John Petronis is New Jersey’s King of Junior Golf
John Petronis is a local man on a mission to promote and grow the sport he loves. It seems to be working. In 2007, he received the Philadelphia PGA Section Junior Leader Award.
“I want to grow the game and provide positive golf experiences for children and families,” said Petronis. “When I was young, golf was good to me. My goal is to give back to golf, to create opportunities for children to develop their game and gain a healthy appreciation for the sport.”
In 2000, he founded the Cape May County Junior Golf Foundation and Cape Junior Golf Tour. The Junior Golfers’ Association of America and JGA Tour followed in 2003. These nonprofit organizations provide a variety of golf opportunities for hundreds of boys and girls, with varying abilities and interest levels, from ages 6 to 19.
Petronis also owns and operates the JGA Golf Academy and Fitting Center at Harbor Pines Golf Club. The academy and fitting center provide a balance to his work.
